FIREROCK PRODUCTION PRESENTS the Australian Premiere production of
THE LAST SUNDAY IN JUNE
BY JONATHAN TOLINS
Cameron Steens - PERFORMER -TOM
Set in a cozy New York City apartment overlooking the Pride Parade, The Last Sunday in June by Jonathan Tolins is a witty, heartfelt, and sharply observed LGBTQIA+ comedy-drama. As a group o f friends gather to celebrate and reflect, their conversations take unexpected turns - unpacking love, labels, and the pursuit of authenticity. Clever, poignant, and refreshingly honest, Tolins' play offers a vibrant snapshot of queer life at a crossroads of celebration and self-examination.
Nov 19, 2025: I’m struggling to write this one. Trying to focus on the good bits. Watching the videos, looking back through photos. Amazing memories. I can feel the laughter from the rehearsal room, on and off stage. So now I’m crying over my laptop, attempting to eat avocado dip and pretend things are fine.
🏳️🌈 The Last Sunday in June 🏳️🌈 I started searching the script for the perfect quote for a sense of closure (not a fun activity this time around). Unfortunately, the show was a comedy and now most things seem in poor taste. So I’m just going to journal and throw in a silly James reference at the end (Aram’s character). Prior to our abrupt ending, I need y’all to know just how much fun this production was. I was regularly laughing till I cried in rehearsals and had the best time. I persevered through rehearsals with a foot injury and then caught the worse stomach bug of my life for the opening week and still think so fondly of the entire process. Getting to work in community is a very powerful thing and I didn’t take it for granted for even a second. Big love to you all! 🖤🖤🖤
Aram Geleris was one of the most joyful, hilarious and genuine people I’ve ever met. He was an absolute pro, contributed so much to the show, delivered terrific performances and made every second of the rehearsal process a blast. From the first rehearsal, I knew I wanted to befriend this wonderful human and I count myself so f***ing lucky to have had the last few months with him. There’s no one to blame. No one to scream at. Nothing to fight against. Just really shitty circumstances. F***ing unfair. BUT we can SUPPORT epilepsy awareness and research!!! www.epilepsy.org.au Things will be hard for now, but I liked seeing the world through Aram’s eyes and will hold on to that tightly. Seeing the positive in each moment, “each glimpse of possibility, each scintilla of basket.”. Goodbye my friend.
